Guys like me have been pushing loafers for long enough (though I still love them), lets talk about some really good derbies worth your money. I like them casual, with shorts, dressed up, and everything in between. They are just as versatile as your favorite loafers. Some of these I have tried/seen in person others I’ve just heard great things about. I’m searching for my perfect pair of black derby’s and dropping in some other shoes in I love from the brands, hoping you find some you love as well. Also, as a warning (to my menswear purists), the difference between oxfords and derby’s is so minor and some oxfords may slip in the list - it’s okay. Feel free to add some of your favorites in the chat or comments.

all timer’s for old timer’s. (jk i love these)

I would have added Clarks on here but ran out of room lol. But can’t beat a wallabee, partial to the black leather pair

Paraboot

Simply the best in the game. A shoe that you can have for years and years that will only get better with time. When a company has been in business (almost 120 years) as long as them and they still get this amount of buzz should tell you something. I have a pair of the Michael’s and they are incredible, add something to every look, and are very durable. You can’t go wrong with any of these, but the Villiandry (pictured bottom right) has my eye at the moment. You can get these from a few retailers but i’ve found Drakes London has the best selection.

Solovair

The original manufacturer of Dr. Martens is another great option. These actually might be the best bang for your buck on this list at right under $200. They are durable, look great, and come in some great colors. This is another brand on this list that I have a pair of (single monk strap, top right) and I really enjoy them. If you’re NYC based, Noah carries them and I would suggest trying them on for the best fit. Other than that make sure you check the sizing chart. That last pair with the Union Jack is very cool.

Kleman

The main draw to Kleman outside of their fun material choices and shapes is definitely their budget friendly pricing, with most styles being under $200. But they haven’t been around since the 1940’s by making shitty product. The shoes are durable and hold up, while still looking great. If you’re not a fan of a long break in period these are a great option as they quite comfortable right out of the box. Planning on grabbing a pair of these soon.
